League Rules

General

Rule 1:
All matches to be played on Tuesday nights, unless otherwise agreed with the Committee.
Rule 2:
Team entrance fee is £60.00 with effect from the 2025-26 season and paid at or before the AGM, thus avoiding teams dropping out with no penalty.
Rule 3:
As with other leagues, no entrance fee paid means non entry into the League.
Rule 4:
Registration fee is £3 per player, payable at first league meeting of the season
Rule 5:
A Team may consist of 5 or more players, who must fulfil the fixture as stated
Rule 6:
All matches to be played as per the fixture list. Any clubs wishing to rearrange a league game must give a minimum of 7 days’ notice to the other club and the league committee, except under special circumstances (e.g. venue closure, bereavement).
Rule 7:
All league fixtures to be completed by the final date on the fixture list. Any outstanding fixtures to be played on an alternative night to ensure that they are completed by the final free date on the fixture list.
Rule 8:
Cancelling or rearranging matches. All League match points must be played for. a) A Team cancelling a game without giving 7 days’ notice but with the other teams consent, will be allowed to rearrange the game to be played at a later date with no penalty fine levied. b) A Team cancelling a game giving less than 7 days but more than 3 days’ notice without the other teams consent, must play the game at a later date agreeable to both teams. The league will state a date if agreement cannot be reached. No penalty fine levied. c) A team cancelling giving 3 days’ notice or less, but prior to the day of the game, without the other teams consent, must play the game at a later date agreeable to both teams. The league will state a date if agreement cannot be reached. A penalty fine of £20 will be levied. d) A team cancelling a game on the day of a match must play the game at a later date agreeable to both teams. The league will state a date if agreement cannot be reached. A penalty fine of £20 will be levied. e) The committee must be informed at the earliest convenient date. f) Any team that cancels 2 X games will get points deducted from each table.
Rule 9:
Any club not fulfilling all financial obligations to the league will not be accepted into future seasons until all past commitments have been paid.
Rule 10:
Any club withdrawing from the league, all points awarded will be deducted.
Rule 11:
All teams are expected to be courteous to their opponents; the use of foul and/or abusive language and aggressive behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Any sanctions for abuse of this rule will be decided on an individual case basis by the committee.
Rule 12:
The Management Committee are sole interpreters of these rules, from their decision there will be no appeal.
Rule 13:
The Management Committee have full power in all matters not provided for in these rules.

Meetings

Rule 14:
Voting (League Meetings & AGM): Each member team of the League in good standing shall have one vote. For the purposes of these rules and procedures, "good standing" is a member that has paid its current membership fee and any other monies owed to the League.

Annual General Meeting

Rule 15:
All clubs wishing to enter the league must send a representative to the AGM. Any proposals a team may wish to discuss at the AGM other than the fixed agenda must be handed to a committee member in writing by the Friday preceding the AGM at the latest.
Rule 16:
A management committee shall be elected prior to each season at the AGM.
Rule 17:
A date and venue will be announced to pick up all paperwork and Knock Out entrance forms, together with return-by date.

Bi-Monthly Meetings

Rule 18:
All clubs shall send a representative to all general meetings subject to a £5.00 fine. This representative must be present for the whole of the meeting (or shall ask the committee to be excused).
Rule 19:
Any team missing 3 consecutive league meetings, even if apologies are made, will have 2 points deducted from their attained Darts, Crib and Slip Up points

Registration

Rule 20:
All players must be registered with and play for,only one club at a time within the S.H.G.D.D.C.L. for each season. Changes will be reported at the next league meeting.
Rule 21:
Only permanent landlords are automatically signed on, and for only one team. ie: no transfers within the pub if there is an A and B team.
Rule 22:
No player to knowingly play for another Team or League on a Tuesday night; the registration of any player doing so will become void for that season, and will therefore be ineligible for all S.H.G.D.D.C.L competitions. All players de-registered will be notified by the committee at the next monthly meeting so that teams are aware of the removal of the player's registration.
Rule 23:
Minimum age to sign on is 16 years, with the Landlord having the final say regarding admittance to the venue.
Rule 24:
Players Registration Forms must be submitted at the first League Meeting of the season, else the team will be subject to a £10 fine.
Rule 25:
Additional players can be signed on by the Team Secretary contacting the Committee via the website contact page.
Rule 26:
New signings must be paid for at the next League Meeting.
Rule 27:
New signings will be eligible for all knockout games, provided they are made before the competitions start.
Rule 28:
Clubs playing non signed on players will be dealt with by the Committee.

Presentations

Rule 29:
All teams must support Presentation Night, with a bottle or suitable raffle prize. The League will subsidise with £10 clubs who fail to honour this rule. The sum will be recovered by the League, plus a £5 penalty charge.
Rule 30:
A sum of £20 towards the presentation night, irrespective of the number of people attending the event, to be paid for at the first meeting after halfway turnaround
Rule 31:
Extra team trophies must be paid for in full before being ordered.
Rule 32:
All trophies are the property of the League and must be signed for at the Presentation Night. Winning clubs will be responsible for loss or damage to the trophies held by them.

Match Procedures

Rule 33:
Draw to be made by 8.45p.m. First 501 game to start at 9.00pm.
Rule 34:
All players to be at the venue by 9.00pm. Non arrivals to be substituted at that time. No persons to play darts more than once in a match. Match card to be supplied by Home team. All paper result sheets to be handed in at the next available league meeting.
Rule 35:
Match Cards to be checked by Team Secretaries for correct information before signing. Only information on the Cards will be accepted as valid.
Rule 36:
Home side to enter result on website as soon as possible after the match. Away side to validate the result on the website by noon on the Saturday following the match. Only if the information conflicts, will verification be required by the Fixture Secretary.
Rule 37:
All disputes or complaints to be reported to the League Secretary in writing within 48 hours, together with the sum of £5.00, which will be forfeit, should the Committee find the protest groundless.
Rule 38:
Match sheet to be uploaded to the What's App group no later than 5pm Thursday and all details must be clear i.e. printed names be in capitals and in full.
Rule 39:
For information only. FOOD: If some Away team members intend to leave early before the end of the match, please tell the home team, so food will not be wasted

Darts

Rule 40:
Home teams are responsible for supplying a trebles board of match standard, adequately lit.
Rule 41:
Height to be 5ft 8in to centre bull. Throwing distance from fixed oche 7ft 9.25in.
Rule 42:
All games 501 best of 3, straight start, double finish, centre bull counts for game. The bust rule applies to finishing.
Rule 43:
If BOTH teams only have 5 or 6 players for Darts, those names shall go in the match draw. Remaining games will not be played, and no points awarded.
Rule 44:
Away team to throw first on games 1/3/5/7. NO DARTS.
Rule 45:
Maximum of 5 minutes to elapse between games.
Rule 46:
Only darts remaining in the board, which are self-supporting, after a player's throw are to count.
Rule 47:
Caller from home team, checker from away team are in control of the game.
Rule 48:
Once the score has been called, checked as being correct, and any dart removed from board, the score will stand.
Rule 49:
The scorers of the books must agree before the next dart is thrown or else rule 48 applies.
Rule 50:
Players may be in call from 250.
Rule 51:
Captain or nominated person (one person only) can assist player verbally during the game (e.g. for kills, etc).
Rule 52:
Points will be awarded as 1 point for each game won. No extra point for match win.
Rule 53:
If a team is not at the venue by 9.00pm 1 point will be lost at darts for each 10 minutes late.

Slip Up

Rule 54:
Slip up shall be one game of round the board, finishing with one double, one treble and any one bull.
Rule 55:
The double and treble will be as the first double achieved during the game. If there is no double it will be deemed as being 20.
Rule 56:
Points will be awarded as 1 point for a win, 1/2 point for a draw.

Crib

Rule 57:
Home team to be responsible for supplying a crib board and match quality pack of cards.
Rule 58:
The crib team shall consist of 6 (different) players, to play in the Knockouts.(IN THE LEAGUE ONLY, one player may play more than 1 game provided that the player plays with a different partner in each of the games).
Rule 59:
Two games of 2 legs. One game of 3 legs. Order of play to be decided before start of match.
Rule 60:
Each game to be of 4 streets, 121 up. Standard club (crib) rules apply.
Rule 61:
One player from each team shall cut for deal on each leg.
Rule 62:
Any card dealt and held in hand, which is not played when possible shall be deemed dead, only becoming live for the count up at the end of hand in play.
Rule 63:
Points to be awarded as 1 point for each leg won, with NO bonus for match win.
Rule 64:
For information only. Pegging: The following is an unwritten rule when playing games with a Peg board. If the wrong number of points is pegged to the pegger's disadvantage (i.e:- underpegging a forward score), a correction is NOT PERMITTED after the player's fingers are REMOVED from the peg. An exception being when an incorrect score is challenged by the opposing pair. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL PLAYERS ARE AWARE OF THIS.

Knockouts

Rule 65:
All fees for individual and pairs competitions must accompany the entry form to be accepted.
Rule 66:
Entry forms for individual darts, slip up pairs and crib pairs will not be accepted after the prescribed date.
Rule 67:
The arrival time for all competitions (excluding team) shall be 8.30pm. Arrival should be conveyed to the event official and/or nominated league official promptly.
Rule 68:
Darts will be best of 3 games, 501, until the final which will be best of 5 games.
Rule 69:
Bull up First Game / Leg only, alternating first thrower on each game / leg thereafter for matches played at neutral venue. Early rounds should comply with regular league rules, i.e. away team first in games 1, 3, 5 & 7, as home team already has an advantage.
Rule 70:
Team Knockout and Crib pairs will be best of 3 games per pair, 4 streets, 121 up.
Rule 71:
If a team folds, or is dismissed out of the league, or is found to have fielded an ineligible player, and is still in the next round of a Knockout competition, then the team they were scheduled to play in the next round will get a bye.
Rule 72:
If a team is unable to fulfil a team KO fixture due to insufficient players being available, then the match will be awarded to their opponents
Rule 73:
IN THE CRIB PAIRS, after the 1st round the pair may be able to introduce a substitute player, if one of the pair is unavailable in the later rounds, provided that the substitute has not played in the competition already with another partner. THE COMMITTEE MUST BE INFORMED AT THE EARLIEST CONVENIENCE

Annual General Meeting

The AGM is to be held at LNRCA (the Railway Club) 265 Edgeley Road Stockport SK3 0TR. 


The meeting is to start at 8 pm. Any team wishing to play in the league MUST attend the AGM and pay the £60 entrance fee.
